The interior design features a mix of modern fabric and furniture, crisp wood finishes and bold accents. This design for the Ministry of the Environment is punctuated by artwork of local environmental wonders such as the Bamboo Cathedral and Columbus Bay...images that infuse the space with wonder and remind the staff who work there of their critical importance as caretakers of our environment.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Spread throughout 250,000 square feet in a 22-storey tower block in the heart of the City Center, the new office for the Board of Inland Revenue was a Design-Build project that was completed in 2017. A modern structure fitted with vibrant colours and distinctly coordinated departments, the new office of the Board of Inland Revenue integrates previously disparate staff in one centralised location while large public spaces encourage visitor and employee interaction. Included in the project was the design and construction of a gymnasium, a homework center and a cafeteria as staff amenities. This project involved a two-week trip to China to select suitable office furniture. Upon completion the client, UdeCOTT deemed the design a ‘resounding success’.</image:caption>

Rizzoni’s novel Italian–style interior blends dark trellis beam ceilings, rustic string lights and creamy stone textured walls that help to create an illusion of dining in a beautiful sunset lit landscape in Tuscany. This spacious restaurant facilitates the traditional display of table-side carving of sizzling meats by the gauchos; a show of skill and festive gift giving. Passionate hand-painted faux red walls, trimmed with dark exotic woods are reflective of the timber-framed barns that housed these culinary feasts on the South American plains. <image:caption>Designworks was responsible for the design of modern Grade A offices for more than 450 staff of the Massy Wood Group. Vibrant work areas were developed from bare concrete shells for a very progressive client who worked closely with Designworks to outfit four office locations for their staff. Amalgamated clusters of workstations, with lower panel heights increase transparency and exploit the full expanse of the floor and exterior views for all staff. Sustainable design was practiced through the use of open plan concepts with low maintenance finishes while contrasting colours complete the design of these interactive office environments. All branding and artwork in these offices were completed by Designworks.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The UWI Convocation Hall, the winner of an international Design-Build competition held by the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus was designed as a bold, iconic architectural expression reflective of the progressive vision of the thinkers at the UWI St Augustine Campus. As the first building that students see upon entry into UWI and the last building they visit at Convocation before departing, the Welcome Center is a transparent glass cube reflective of the students’ blank psyche upon entering the university while the Convocation Hall is a bold white modern cuboid with a picture-frame style glazed front façade. In addition to being a metaphor for the students transformation over time, the building itself is raised upon pilotis, shading a student cafeteria and casual seating area from the hot tropical sun. The 4000-seater Convocation Hall can be divided into 3 different arrangements for exhibitions, meetings and lectures when it is not being used for convocations during the annual graduation season.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects / Arima Hospital - Arima Hospital / Arima / 100,000 S.F. / FIDIC Engineer / Ongoing</image:title>
<image:caption>Currently under construction, the 150-bed hospital, approximately US$200M project will improve the availability of quality health care for the residents of Arima and environs. This modern healthcare facility meets the demands of a growing society and keeps abreast with advances in medical science as they become available. In this project Designworks was responsible for the role of the FIDIC Engineer – architect under the auspices of Derek Outridge QES Ltd and Gerard Niles of Altura Ltd. This task involved overseeing the Design-Build Contractor China Railway Construction Company Ltd and ensuring that all relevant healthcare design standards laid out by the AIA Guidelines were met. <image:caption>Motivational, environmentally-conscious and professional were the watchwords for Designworks’ team-oriented space for a large public sector office with over 150 staff. All staff had previously been stationed in private offices, now their new modern open-plan office environment with vibrant workspaces and contemporary aesthetics reflects the enthusiasm of their new organisational culture. Bold modern design and incorporation of custom artworks from various WASA plants acts as tools of connectivity for both staff and visitors.</image:caption>

<image:caption>One of 4 Designworks projects for this esteemed client from the Banking sector was the renovation of the historical Mariner’s Club building adjacent to Independence Square in downtown Port-of-Spain. This engaging project overcomes the challenge of the existing structure’s lack of headroom by introducing sweeping curved bulkheads that conceal services and infrastructure while successfully distracting the eye from the low ceiling heights in the space. This project also made use of frosted glazed partitions that define and distinguish offices and tellers in the Main Banking Hall while the blue and gold corporate colours of Intercommercial Bank were emblazoned throughout the interiors. Since the completion of this project, Intercommercial Bank was bought over by JMMB and Designworks continues to enjoy a warm relationship with this driven client.</image:caption>

This legacy project involved the complete upgrade and refurbishment of this historic building to the highest standards of a modern commercial office environment. All of this was done while integrating a tropical Caribbean flair by using a mixture of finishes and colours throughout. All of the building’s services were also modernised and upgraded. This project was nominated for the prestigious Heritage Preservation Award in December 2009 from The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago in the Category of Best Historic Restoration Project (Large). <image:caption>Designworks lead a team tasked with the relocation of all staff from the Red House to Tower D of the Waterfront Project in downtown Port-of-Spain to facilitate the restoration of the historical structure. The brief for this project included the design and outfitting of 50,000 square feet of office space in addition to the House Chamber, the Committee Room, the Offices of the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate and all 165 Parliamentary Staff. While this was relatively simple from a design standpoint, where audibility and functionality were the focus in the main chamber, the project was a logistical maelstrom, with all works being completed within 8 weeks in order for the 2011 National Budget to be read on time not withstanding the ongoing National Period of Emergency.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This proposal for the Bacolet Indoor Sporting Arena makes a statement as a sporting complex of national importance while facilitating players, spectators, differently-abled persons, and the media in a highly effective manner. The main entrance of the complex contains an extensive glass façade. This design element allows natural light to penetrate all floors of the sporting complex, while the structure's bold, V-shaped structural supports and red Alucobond finish make the building easily identifiable from the Claude Noel Highway. Circulation was a major factor in the design of this complex with players and spectators having separate circulation for competition days, something that raises the operational capability of this facility to an international standard.</image:caption>

The fish bowl boardroom being the focal point of this project sets a tone for transparency in the workplace and allows natural light to flood through the space. The Orange and Blue McCann Colours act as accent colours throughout highlighting important areas within the space. Overall this design was playful and brand focused.</image:caption>
